BahiaStay — Luxury Collection
O Quadrado histórico de Trancoso ao entardecer, com a igreja branca de São João Batista e casas coloniais coloridas sob mangueiras centenárias

The luxury Bahia already had before us.

BahiaStay began from a simple irritation: the best house on a beach is almost never on the site that comes up first. It is with a caretaker who answers the phone, with a family that rents to people they know, or with an architect who built it for themselves and lets it go for three months a year.

Bringing those houses together in one place requires doing what a mass platform does not: going there. Every property in this catalogue has been visited by someone from the team, who slept in the bed, ran the shower, checked the generator and talked to whoever looks after the house. Today there are 34 properties across 22 enclaves, from Morro de São Paulo to Caraíva.

Saying no is part of it

Most of the properties that approach us do not get in. Not out of snobbery — out of consistency: anyone booking a house here needs to know it went through the same scrutiny as the others. Four criteria decide.

  1. 01

A location that cannot be copied

Immediately on the sea, private within native Atlantic forest, or sitting harmoniously inside the historic centre.

  2. 02

    Architecture with an author

Organic lines, cross ventilation, continuity between inside and out, and fine regional materials.

  3. 03

    Impeccable upkeep

Plumbing, electrics, generators and pools maintained to international hotel standard, with no interruption of service.

  4. 04

    A standard of welcome

A willingness to provide a trained team, or an operating model that meets the demands of Bahian hospitality.

Sustainability is not a badge

The coast we sell as scenery is where other people live. High-end hospitality in Bahia only holds up if the community around it gains from it — and not in spite of it.

  • Teams hired in the region itself, paid above the local average, with training funded by the operation.
  • Preference for local suppliers of food, crafts and maintenance.
  • Refusal of properties with environmental irregularities or unlawful occupation of protected land.
  • No large events in small villages: the wrong scale destroys precisely what brought the guest there.

What we are not yet

BahiaStay is young. The guest review system is still being built — which is why you will not find visitor ratings on the site: we prefer the absence to an invented score. The market figures published in the property section are our own compilation, not an independent audit, and are flagged as such on the pages where they appear.
